Default Aura of Faith Prot Idea

Just messing around with a new idea, centering around Aura of Faith on a Protection Monk. Its geared mostly for Tombs, but comments on Arena would be useful too. Since the idea is to try and test and theorycraft a good Aura of Faith monk, don't tell me to use any other elite unless you can somehow make me believe Aura of Faith sucks, which I don't think it does. Any comments are welcome.

Attributes:

Divine Favor: 12+4
Protection: 8+1
Inspiration: 10

Skills:

Aura of Faith [E]
Divine Boon
Inspired Hex
Shielding Hands
Reversal of Fortune
Aegis
Signet of Devotion
Drain Enchantment

Energy management should be fairly good with the Signet and the two inspiration skills. Aura of Faith is designed to help your healing monks be more efficient, and having 16 in Divine Favor along with Boon allows for a pretty good defense.

Obviously, some glaring things that are missing are Protective Spirit and Mend Ailment. Dropping one of the Inspiration spells seems to be an option, I don't exactly know how energy management will work with just an Inspired Hex.

I do believe this style of monk definitely has a place in certain teams, like one in where another monk or /monk handles conditions, or a heavy defense team with more than the standard three monks.

If given the choice to put it shielding hands or protective spirit, but not both, Id go with prot spirit. Also, who would you put aura of faith on? Yourself? Seems like its a bit conditional, they may be attacking a different monk. If they attacked the target you want them too, though, itd be great, at least until they figure out that their target cant die.

Aura of faith allows you to keep it on all 3 monks after a minute for 30 energy every 72 seconds or so with a 20% enchant mod.

Its a powerful setup but vulnerable to enchant strips.

Looks solid to me. Of course, the usual caveats apply - Watch out for Rend Enchantments/Lingering Curse/Strip Enchantment/Drain Enchantment.

Other than the fact that it's enchant-dependant, it looks good.

The only problem with Aura of Faith is it's long cooldown time, thus making it very weak against any type of enchantment removal. What the skill does however, is very nice.

With a 20/20 divine favor icon and a 20% recharge divine favor rod, you can get recharge down about 40% of the time right?

Also I've been trying the decreased cast time on signet of devotion, but haven't seen it work yet. The items say that it decreases times on all divine favor skills, so shouldn't that include signets as well? /shrug

if you are in tombs just about any decent team debuffs the current punchbag/target. this makes it a bit useless imo.

anyway most prot monks need martyr, so no room really =/

Why? You're not the first person who I have heard say this, but I'm intrigued... is the argument that full prot monks don't need their elite to be on energy management because they are spamming low cost spells, and therefore can take on other elites (of which this is one of the best remaining viable elites)?

Is it just that Martyr is the current Monk FOTM?

Ive always found this interesting... monks are enchantment dependant most of the time. Why be afraid of it? Of course this and that will happen but hey there's always a counter for everything. A monk too enchant dependant wasting a lot of energy is seriosuly in trouble but this build seems good. Id drop Shielding Hands (its cool in PvE but in PvP it just doesnt cut it) for Protective Spirit anytime. Aegis is there, Reversal of Fortune is there, Signet of Devotion is there, Divine Boon is a personal favorite of mine although must be applied carefully...

Its a cool build actually. In fact Im going to try it... one day heh since im a pure healer type of monk in PvP.

Monks are often enchant heavy, but look at the enchants youve named against, e.g. aura of faith. Theyre all spammable and contextual, meaning they go on when you want, generally just before or during a spike. Therefore, rend often doesnt apply as much.

Lots of people use martyr since lots of people use lots of warriors. As has been said many times, there are many many counters to warriors, so they need looking after. The worst is probably blind/weakness/cripple, hexes being pretty dam good, but for some reason i dont see them around so much. Martyr keeps your warriors clean of such problems, and allows them to concentrate on the rampant killing etc.

Understood, but I really think Mend Ailment or Purge Conditions (or take both?) will work adequately here, and frees up your elite for something better...
